My next room is found in the home office a busy bachelor, who’s manufacturing business frequently takes him to China. He enjoyed American Indian artifacts, and wanted to incorporate some of his special pieces in this room’s transformation. And, like in many makeovers we’re involved in, this room needed to become a home office and guest room. In touring the home, prior to beginning this design project, which is always something I do when I meet a
client for the first time, the decorator found an old white laminated Murphy bed, desk and cabinets which she suggested painting in a rich green based
charcoal shade. Let’s see how this room was not only transformed into a beautiful guest room, but a workable home office as well
Doesn’t this furniture look totally different?! The rich tones used in painting all the laminated furniture is complemented by the warm maize
shade used in the wall color. The clients conga drums which he still plays because a unique accent along with pieces of American Indian wall
art, which you will see in my next view of this room. You’ll notice the office chair and desk next to the conga drums – so this is actually how the room looks in it’s home office setting. Now let’s look at it’s transformation into a guest room!
What I love most about this room is that whether this gentlemen is working at his desk in his home office, of entertaining overnight guests, each room
variation is unique unto itself, and absolutely gorgeous. With a little thought and preplanning double duty rooms can certainly be created to solve multi needs in every home!
And here is one last view of the room, allowing you to see the work space that has been created in the corner of the room! A fabulous makeover, I think!
