I love to travel. In May I was lucky enough to spend a week in Memphis, TN. And a week in Alaska and let me tell you. Wow these cities are different. I like to incorporate what I see in the cultures and landscapes from all of the different places that I visit into my home.
Now bring home something from every trip that you can incorporate in your home may not be the answer but what about the culture and atmosphere.
Thing about the places that you have been and the way that they made you feel. For example when I was in Alaska. It was a very calming and restful place, with lots of natural elements present. Those are colors and feels that I have incorporated into my bedroom and bathroom because I want to recreate that calming and restful feeling that I got when I was in Alaska into those two places in my home.
My my family room has a Memphis style and flair to it. It's very fun with vibrant colors and textures. This is a room that I like to entertain in as have a good time so my design in there reflects that.
I'm not saying make each room in your home into a different city theme because the house needs to flow together but even small changes to a room can change the way it feels and maybe bring you back to a favorite place or time.
What place would you like to incorporate in your design?
